HAMPSHIRE LADIES CRICKET

V

STAFFORDSHIRE

SUNDAY 25th JULY 2010

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THE MEMBERS WHO HELPED IN SETTING UP THE GROUND AND PUTTING IT ALL BACK WHERE WE GOT IT FROM.

FROM THE CRICKET POINT OF VIEW THE DAY WAS A GREAT SUCCESS, THE GROUND AT BATH LANE LOOKED A RIGHT PICTURE WITH SIGHTSCREENS OUT, BOUNDARY MARKERS, FIELDING CIRCLES, SCOREBOARD AND STUMPS UP ALREADY FOR THEM WHEN THEY ARRIVED.

THE CRICKET WAS OF A GOOD STANDARD AND VERY INTERSTING TO WATCH.

THE CATERING WAS FIRST CLASS AND THE HELPERS WHO PUT IT ALL AWAY CAN VOUCH FOR THAT AFTER TUCKING IN TO THE REMAINS OF LUNCH AND A FREE BEER.

THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR EFFORTS, IT WAS A PITY THAT THE PLAYERS AND THEIR SUPPORTERS DID NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OUR FACILITIES IN THE CLUBHOUSE.

01 Jun 2010 : First Social
The Clubs social calendar kicked off on Friday 28th May. Unfortunately due to lack of numbers the start times for both the Quiz and Bingo were delayed. Eventually we managed to get the games going in a small way, but a good night was still had by all... ... Congratulations to Jan Wylde for getting a Full House in Bingo.
The Social Committee would like to thank those who attended the evening for their support, and would hope the numbers increase at the next social event.

31 Mar 2010 : The Ground
As you well know the weather is one of the major factors to do with ground maintenance and this year so far it has been diabolic!! The grass has most of this year been under snow or water which means at present very little has been achieved in the preseason rolling and the ground temperature has not been warm enough to get the grass growing. It is not all doom and glom, the outfield has been rolled by Luke, we have the boundary marks in, colts practice strips have been cut out and rolled. We are still having to fill up areas where the Gas main was renewed as it keeps sinking. The outfield is still awaiting it’s first cut but the ground is so soft that the tractor and gang mowers would sink.
We have 3 weeks to go before the first match so get your dancing shoes on and pray for wind and sunshine. Les Webb and Luke have been helping and I am assured with their help and others we will ON on the 24 April.( don’t forget the weather will play a BIG part in this)

Pavilion
Fareham Borough Council and it’s contractors have carried over the past month some major work in the pavilion. Home changing room ceiling has been replaced after sections of it fell down during the winter months. The old ceiling had a content of Asbestos so this developed into a major operation, there still is some tidying up to do but all will be well on the day!
The water system has had a complete overhaul. The old roof water tanks, hot water tanks, mild steel pipe work and the old boiler have all been replaced. We now have a condensation boiler which is capable of providing hot water to 4 showers, 2 sinks and the central heating system. 4 shower heads have been removed from both the home and away shower rooms leaving 2 in each. I am assured that we will have ample hot water and if you think about it, it is now the same as in No2 Changing Room.

Ben Kissane will join Tom in the under 16 invitation team to play the league winners.
